Evaluation of Algae-Based Fertilizers Produced from Revolving Algal Biofilms on Kentucky Bluegrass

چکیده
The revolving algal biofilm (RAB) system is a wastewater treatment method that effective at removing nutrients from wastewater, and as result produces algae could be used sustainable fertilizer source. A two-year greenhouse study was conducted to investigate if algae-based fertilizers produced the RAB an turfgrass fertilizer. Fertilizer treatments included pure (PA), + cellulosic filler (Blended), Milorganite, urea, nontreated control. Overall, in terms of percent green cover (PGC), Blended PA performed similar Milorganite outperformed urea At conclusion study, only have increased PGC relative which 29% increase. On average throughout duration resulted dark color index (DGCI) Blended, PA, 50% 111% greater total root length compared control, respectively. Furthermore, 107% 136% surface area volume, respectively, Pure 58% longest by 22% urea. Additionally, 114% 110% shoot biomass had or better growth, cover, color, rooting. Thus, (PA Blended) should considered effective,

متن کاملMatrix-Based Fertilizers Reduce Nutrient Leaching While Maintaining Kentucky Bluegrass Growth
We tested the efficacy of matrix-based fertilizers (MBFs) to improve Kentucky bluegrass (Poa pratensis L.) growth while reducing NH, NO3, dissolved reactive phosphorus (DRP), and total phosphorus (TP) compared to commercial slowrelease fertilizer (SRF) Polyon®, ESN®, and Avail® in greenhouse column studies. The MBFs covered a range of inorganic N and P in compounds that are relatively loosely b...

Denitrification may represent an important mechanism in the fate of N applied to turf. Denitrification losses were directly measured from fertilized 'Baron' Kentucky bluegrass (Poa pratensis L.) sod samples sealed in acrylic chambers using the acetylene inhibition technique. Losses were correlated with soil texture, percent soil sat· uration (SAT), and temperature. Losses from turf on a Hadley ...
متن کاملMeasuring sod strength of Kentucky bluegrass and Supina bluegrass
The extent of root, rhizome, and/or stolon growth determines turfgrass sod maturity. In 1998, at Michigan State University, the Calrochan Sod Puller (CSP) was developed to measure the force necessary to tear a piece of sod. The CSP uses a battery powered hydraulic pulley to provide a consistent pulling force, and is attached to a load cell. In August 1999, sod strength measurements of different...
